My name is Molly Zahner and I am currently a student studying at Delaware County Community College (DCCC). I was born June 25, 1999, in Media, Pennsylvania and currently live in Coatesville with my loving parents and seven younger siblings. Our ages range from my youngest brother who is four-years-old to me at eighteen-years-old. My siblings’ names are Noah, Erin, Emma, Kaleigh, Joshua, Christian, and Michael and we have a dog named Bailey. While my household can be hectic and loud, I truly love being apart of a large family.
My siblings and I all attended Catholic school for our primary and secondary education. I went to Saint Joseph’s School from kindergarten to eighth grade and attended Bishop Shanahan High School in Downingtown. Being able to go to Catholic school was truly a blessing because I got the opportunity to learn more about my faith surrounded by a tight-knit community. During my high school experience, I went on many spiritual retreats in Steubenville, Ohio and my senior Kairos retreat in Malvern, PA. While there, I met my boyfriend Trevor and we have been dating for a year now.
After I graduated high school in June 2017, I attended Bloomsburg University as an undeclared student. For medical reasons and homesickness, I decided to come back home and attend DCCC for the spring semester. However, I explored many potential majors to pursue while I was at Bloomsburg and now I plan on majoring in English. I took an Interdisciplinary Studies class which involved a lot of writing, however, I thoroughly enjoyed it and realized I would be really happy with a career in writing.
In my spare time, I love to read, watch Netflix, and hang out with my friends or my boyfriend. My favorite time of year is when I get to go to Kay’s Kamp once a week every summer. It is an oncology camp for kids with cancer and I was a camper for 6 years after I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer, when I was nine-years-old. After a year of treatment, I was fully cured and am now nine years cancer free. For the last two years, I was a Leader in Training (LIT) for Kamp and will be a junior counselor this upcoming summer.
This fall, I am transferring to Immaculata University to major in English and possibly minor in Communications. I look forward seeing where my education takes me in the years to come.
